General Information About Heroes

Heroes are an essential part of Hero Wars: Alliance gameplay. You need them to participate in various game modes, such as Arena, Tower, Guild Wars, etc. Heroes are automatically positioned on the battlefield based on their auto-attack range. You cannot manually adjust their positions.

Each hero has special traits — level, skills, stats, Glyphs, Classes, Factions, etc. — that determine their stats and impact in battle. This article explains the basics of these traits; read on to learn more.

Heroes Menu

You can learn the hero's background, position, main and secondary stats, class, and faction in the Heroes menu. To open it:

Level

Hero level determines a hero's strength. The maximum hero level is 120. The higher the level, the more experience you need to raise it.

To gain hero experience:

  • complete Campaign missions using heroes you wish to upgrade;
  • use EXP potions.

You can buy EXP potions at the Town Shop or receive them by raiding missions.

The game has two different level systems: team level and character level.

Up to team level 28, your heroes’ level can be higher than your team level. Your heroes might be of level 20 when your team level is still 16. So if you cannot level up your heroes further, increase your team level first.

Press your avatar in the upper-left corner of the main screen to check what is the maximum level of your heroes.

Max level

Starting from team level 28, the hero level cap is equal to your current team level and cannot be higher than it. For example, if your team level is 28, you can upgrade your heroes up to level 28 at most. To level up your heroes further, increase your team level.

Skills

Each hero has four unique skills that they can apply in battle. You can learn more about hero skills in this article.

Rank and Equipment

There are 16 ranks in the game: White, Green, Green +1, Blue, Blue +1, Blue +2, Violet, Violet +1, Violet +2, Violet +3, Orange, Orange +1, Orange +2, Orange +3, Orange +4, and Red.

Note
Some red items have not been added to the game yet. You can see these items in the equipment list but cannot obtain them. Follow us on social media to stay tuned!

When you level up a hero's rank, you unlock skills and Glyphs. To upgrade your hero to the next rank, you need to collect and craft items. You gather items and their fragments by completing Campaign missions. The rarer the item, the lower its drop chance.

Evolution and Soul Stones

You can evolve heroes up to six stars by using gold and Soul Stones. With each upgrade, the hero's main stats will increase. The number of Soul Stones required for an upgrade:

  • 1st star — 10 Soul Stones;
  • 2nd star — 20 Soul Stones (or 30 Soul Stones if you summon the hero for the first time);
  • 3rd star — 50 Soul Stones (or 80 Soul Stones if you summon the hero for the first time);
  • 4th star — 100 Soul Stones;
  • 5th star — 150 Soul Stones;
  • 6th star — 300 Soul Stones.

The first heroes you get are Galahad, Astaroth, Thea, Phobos, and Aurora. You can obtain other heroes and their Soul Stones by:

  • completing heroic missions;
  • opening Heroic Chests;
  • completing event tasks;
  • watching Boxy videos;
  • getting as a part of a bundle;
  • buying in one of the game Shops.

Skins

Skins increase hero stats and change their appearance. You can learn more about hero skins in this article.

Glyphs and Class Runes

Every hero has five Glyphs. Each Glyph boosts main or secondary stats. When all Glyphs of a hero reach level 40, the Class Rune feature unlocks. It gives access to the class ability — a passive skill that all heroes of the same class have. You can learn more about Glyphs and Class Runes in this article.

Classes

Each hero in the game belongs to a specific class. Currently, there are seven classes in total. Press Hero Classes below to open a full list of classes.

When all Glyphs of a hero reach level 40, the Class Rune feature unlocks. It gives access to the class ability — a passive skill that all heroes of the same class have. The ability works even for those heroes whose Glyphs have not reached level 40 yet.

To read the descriptions of all passive skills, press Class Abilities.

Class Abilities
Tank

Every 10 seconds, a tank hero increases the armor and magic defense of an ally with the lowest health. The stats are boosted for 5 seconds according to this formula: 1% tank's health + 50 * Class Rune level. The tank hero can also apply this skill to themself.

Warrior

Whenever a warrior deals damage with their regular attack, their own physical attack stat increases according to this formula: 8% warrior's physical attack + 45 * Class Rune level. The duration of the effect is calculated according to this formula: 0,02 * Class Rune level + 5. A warrior cannot increase their physical attack more than six times simultaneously.

Marksman

If a marksman's target has less than a certain percentage of health, marksman's next attack will deal more damage. The percentage of target's health is calculated according to this formula: 0,1 * Class Rune level + 20; the amount of damage dealt — according to this formula: 10% of marksman's physical attack + 90 * Class Rune level. Marksman can use this skill once every four seconds for each target.

Mage

A mage starts a battle with more energy. The amount of additional energy is calculated according to this formula: Class Rune level * 0.6 + 50. When a mage uses their second, third, or fourth skills, they gain more energy that is calculated according to this formula: 0.2 * Class Rune level.

Healer

When a healer restores an ally's health, they also apply a buff on them for five seconds. This buff converts any incoming damage into healing according to this formula: 30% healer's magic attack + 220 * Class Rune level. A healer can apply the buff on an ally once every 10 seconds.

Support

When a support hero deals damage to an opponent or applies a buff on allies, they reduce the armor and magic defense of all the opponents. Depending on which stat of the support hero is higher, the armor and magic defense are reduced according to either of these formulas: 1% support's physical attack + 5 * Class Rune level OR 1% support's magical attack + 5 * Class Rune level. The debuff lasts four seconds. A hero cannot have more than five debuffs at the same time.

Control

When a control effect ends, a control hero slows the affected opponent down by 30% and reduces their total physical damage for four seconds. Depending on which stat of the control hero is higher, the damage is reduced according to either of these formulas: 1% magic attack + 20 * Class Rune level OR 1% physical attack + 20 * Class Rune level. A control hero can use this skill on an opponent once every 10 seconds.

Factions

Each hero in the game belongs to a specific faction. There are six factions in the game. Tap Hero Factions below to open a full list of factions.
